Thanks, Hawks!

Haws on MLK Jr. Day, 2010

St. Joseph’s was out in force Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. On the Philadelphia side of the Schuylkill, the women’s soccer team joined Ivy Ridge Green for three cleanups in one: Germany Hill, Fountain Street Steps, and Ivy Ridge Trail.

They prepped the whole area for spring: the pocket park at Canton & Leverington Avenue is clean, the trail and Germany Hill are trash-free, and the lower Fountain Street steps are ready for landscaping. This was a big effort — and Ivy Ridge Green is now approaching 500 hours of contributed service to the neighborhood since its founding. Not bad!

Big “thank yous” to the St. Joe’s soccer team, to Beth Ford and Renie Shields for organizing this, and to Blaise Syrnick and Annie Scott for leading the projects. Thanks as well to Ridge Park Civic Association for their support, to SEPTA for their partnership, and to ALL of Ivy Ridge Green’s members and supporters for a great start to the new decade. We’re doing great work together.
